Hidden Cedar Stables and True Connection Therapy Services acknowledge with humility that the land we live and work on is situated on the Traditional Territory and Lands of Indigenous People. Our farm is located on the original land of Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsio and Missauga First Nation. The original language of this land is Kanien’kehaka (Mohawk). The land encompasses the Crawford Purchase Treaty of 1783. The Crawford Purchase was an agreement made in 1783 between the Mississaugas and the British crown to surrender lands that extended west along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario to enable Loyalist settlement in what is now a part of eastern Ontario, Canada. We recognize the presence of all First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples. We are committed to decolonizing our practice and honoring truth and reconciliation for the future. We are located minutes from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and True Connection Therapy Services provides services funded through the NIHB (non-insured health benefit program of Indigenous Services Canada). Throughout her life and career Dana pursued extensive learning about Indigenous culture. As a settler of European descent, she considers it an honour and a privilege to work at decolonizing her therapy practices, restoring the Indigenous worldviews, traditional ways and perspectives of history.
